I think we can all breathe a sigh of relief as the comfortable temps are here! A cold front passed through yesterday (responsible for the showers/t-storms), which has really allowed the humidity to kick it down a notch. It’s still a bit muggy, but thankfully nowhere near as bad as its been! The region will be dominated by a weak area of high pressure through much of the weekend, which should allow the humidity to stay in check until Monday. We should be rain free, though I cannot rule out an isolated shower late Sunday as winds become SSWerly once again. Enjoy it, as my latest 7-day forecast features daily chances of showers/t-storms and a return to the heat and humidity beginning on Monday…

Boy am I a happy camper writing this post! A cold front is expected to slide through this afternoon, which will help to usher in more comfortable temperatures…FINALLY! The only downfall is that showers and thunderstorms will be the price to pay for the cooler temperatures. While it won’t rain all day, expect periods of showers and thunderstorms through the afternoon hours, some heavy. By tomorrow evening, I expect that most spots will end up with a quarter to half inch of rain, with isolated spots picking up more. We should avoid much in the way of severe weather tomorrow, though some of the storms may be strong with gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning. As for temps, most spots should only make it to 80 or so due to the clouds, timing of the front, and precipitation. Once the front passes through, we set the stage for a rather brilliant Saturday with temps in the middle 80s and low humidity! For the rest of the forecast, check out the “7-Day Forecast” page!

After yet another hot afternoon yesterday, we have one more day to go until relief! Unlike the past several days, humidity values will really jump up today as a cold front heads toward the tri-state. This, in combination with the already hot air temperatures, will create uncomfortable heat index values near 100. As the front inches closer, the increased moisture values and lift will allow for the development of scattered showers/storms this afternoon. As the system gets closer tonight through Friday, expect the coverage of precip to increase, with locally heavy amounts (inch or so) possible. As of now, it appears that the threat of severe t-storms is rather low, mainly due to a lack of forcing in the atmosphere. However, strong t-storms capable of producing small hail, gusty winds, frequent lightning, and/or very heavy rain are a good bet. For a look at the upcoming weekend’s weather, check out the “7-Day Forecast” page!

The past several days truely have been a reminder of what season we are in! Upper 80s/lower 90s for highs have been the norm, but today we’ll kick it up a notch. A continued SW flow will promote middle 90s across much of the area by afternoon, with heat index values near 100! While not incredibly dangerous, such values will be rather uncomfortable, making outdoor activities (other than swimming) rather unpleasant. Hang in there, Cincinnati! Relief (in the form of precip and a cold frontal passage) is only two days away, with a return to comfortable weather for the upcoming weekend! Stay cool!!!
