Rain Developing

A large swath of rain is sliding towards the tri-state from the south. While most areas are still fairly dry at the moment (3:00pm), I expect everyone to begin to see the rain fall within the next hour or two. While not very heavy, the rain will be steady and last for a good portion of the evening/night (some breaks, albeit short). Because of the dense cloudcover and virga (precip evaporating before hitting the ground), temps have stayed cooler than many forecasters were predicting (including myself). Currently, most areas are sitting in the lower to middle 50s, with a bit more warming expected in the next hour or so (no more than a few degrees). Expect high temps to top out in the middle to upper 50s, then hold around 50 through the night.

Drying Out

Posted by Trevor Cole in Daily Weather Updates on 09-10-2009

After many areas received 2″+ of rainfall over the last day or so, we are FINALLY drying out for the weekend! The powerhouse low pressure system responsible for the messy weather is sliding away, which is being replaced by a lovely area of high pressure! Said high will control our weather through the weekend, providing partly to mostly clear skies and cooler temperatures! For Saturday, expect highs to top out around 60 before falling into the lower 40s for Saturday night! Enjoy! :-)
