Temperatures Slowly Moderating

Tuesday brings more cool temperatures with partly to mostly cloudy skies and highs in the middle 70s. Temperatures will slowly moderate through the week (lower 80s by the end of the week).

Below Normal Temperatures Continue!

Wow! What a stellar weekend we just had! An area of high pressure parked itself across the midwest, which has been allowing N/NE winds to flow right into the tri-state. The high will slowly slide to the east through the week, which means that we will continue to experience much below normal temperatures (normal high is around 82-83 degrees). In addition to the cool temps, expect dry conditions through Friday! =)
Below Normal Temperatures

A Bit Warmer

An area of high pressure will slowly slide to our east on Tuesday, which will allow winds to switch from the E/NE to the S/SE, eventually the S/SW. Thus, our temperatures will moderate somewhat from the very cool readings we have seen the past few days. Skies will remain partly to mostly sunny, with a high temperature of around 84 degrees (right around normal for this time of year). A cold front is slowly sliding our way from the northwest, which will begin to affect our weather as soon as Wednesday (in the form of increasing clouds/rain chances).

Marvelous Monday!

Posted by Trevor Cole in Daily Weather Updates on 23-08-2009

Well, I guess the weather may be the only good part of Monday for some of you, but sometimes good weather is the one thing that can make a rotten day much better! This past weekend was very comfortable, but a pesky upper-level low pressure system parked itself over the Great Lakes, helping to keep widespread clouds in place across the Ohio Valley. The temperatures were nice, but the gloomy skies disallowed most of us to fully enjoy the amazing weather! Today will be much different as an area of high pressure slides across the area, allowing for mostly sunny skies and comfortable temperatures to take command of our weather! Expect highs to rise towards the 80-degree mark, which is STILL below normal for this time of year! Some “summer” this has been weather-wise…
Thank you, Mother Nature!!!
Have a GREAT Monday! =)

Nice Weather Continues!

Posted by Trevor Cole in Daily Weather Updates on 22-08-2009

After high temperatures only topped out around 70 degrees on Saturday, today will not be much different. An area of high pressure to our west will continue to pump northerly/northwesterly winds into the tri-state, allowing for temperatures to remain well below normal. Moderation will begin on Monday with a return to the lower 80s.

Teriffic Thursday!

Posted by Trevor Cole in Daily Weather Updates on 12-08-2009

High pressure is in full force for today providing the tri-state with a brief period of seasonable temperatures and lower humidity values! Expect wall-to-wall sunshine today with high temperatures climbing into the middle 80s (right where we should be this time of year). Tonight, temperatures will fall off once again into the upper 50s/lower 60s, which will feel VERY comfortable (sure beats lows in the 70s)! Enjoy your day!!! =)

More Storms for Tuesday

Posted by Trevor Cole in Daily Weather Updates on 11-08-2009

After a steamy and stormy Monday, today looks to hold much of the same. A cold front, still located to the WNW of the tri-state, will slowly sag south through the day. Ahead of the front, temperatures will remain warm (in the middle 80s or higher) with high humidity values. Those conditions, along with the lift from the front and/or remnant outflow boundaries leftover from Monday’s storms, will help kick off showers/t-storms. Just like yesterday, any storms that develop will produce heavy rain (leading to localized flooding due to the already saturated ground). Some of the storms may become severe, though most will stay below severe limits. The best chance for storms will begin by early afternoon, continuing through the evening before slowly winding down tonight.

Stormy Monday

After a dry weekend, rain chances return for Monday. A cold front, currently stretched across the Plains, will slowly slide eastward towards the Ohio Valley. Ahead of this front, warm and moist air will continue to flow into the area, allowing for the atmosphere to become fairly unstable. Both the NAM and GFS (two major forecast models) show scattered showers/t-storms developing during the morning hours. The clouds associated with that rain (and the rain itself) will help keep high temperatures down (lower 80s area-wide…upper 80s or so would have been likely with NO rain/clouds). Strong storms are likely, with a couple possibly pulsing to severe levels. The biggest threat, however, will be heavy rain (given the high moisture values in place). The showers/t-storms will decrease in intensity/coverage Monday night with the loss of daytime heating. Stay with Cincy Forecast for the very latest on the storm/heavy rain threat!

Brief Shot of Heat

Posted by Trevor Cole in Daily Weather Updates on 09-08-2009

After months of limited heat (deep solar minimum, increased soil moisture, etc), we will finally receive a taste of summer. A broad area of high pressure centered to our southeast will really help to usher in very warm, muggy air. Expect afternoon highs to top out around 90 degrees with high humidity (dewpoint values at or above 70 degrees, which is very uncomfortable). The two combined together will create heat index values approaching 100 degrees. Drink plenty of fluids and stay cool!
