Cooler than normal temperatures…rain for the 4th?

Posted by Trevor Cole in Daily Weather Updates on 29-06-2009

After a breezy and cool Monday, Tuesday looks to hold much of the same! A cut-off low (low pressure system that breaks off from the jet stream) will continue to spin across the Great Lakes, which will allow for the cool N/NW breeze to continue. Because the low will be to our north (moving south from Canada), it won’t have much moisutre to work with. While I wouldn’t rule out a couple isolated showers, most areas will remain dry for Tuesday. Highs will top out in the middle 70s, so it will definately feel a bit chillier than what we have been feeling as of late! Looking ahead to the weekend, it appears that a cold front will be passing through on Saturday afternoon/evening, which will unfortunately allow for the development of scattered showers and thunderstorms around the area (mainly before the fireworks, though a slight adjustment in frontal passage speed would change that). I’ll be watching that very carefully over the next several days! Enjoy the cool weather!

Stellar Saturday!

After the last few days have been full of thunderstorms, Saturday looks to be much better! Expect high temps to climb into the middle to upper 80s under partly to mostly sunny skies.

Warm and Humid

It seems like the warm and humid days just keep coming! A large area of high pressure will continue to dominate our weather, helping to keep the sticky air in place! We are lucky, however, as the main core of the heat is staying to our west/southwest:

Father’s Day Outlook

After some decent thunderstorms woke many tri-staters up last night, the weather has finally calmed down a bit. Expect partly to mostly sunny skies for Sunday with a slight chance of a shower or t-storm (very spotty…so don’t cancel plans). Highs will make it up into the middle 80s, so get out and enjoy it!!!! :

Here is a recap of Friday’s severe weather. Note the extensive amount of damaging wind reports just to our west/northwest (we dodged a bullet…as the storms starting fading by the time they got here).

Stellar Sunday!

Wow! One word describes the weather forecast for Sunday……BEAUTIFUL!!! An area of high pressure will still have an effect on our weather as it slides to the east throughout the day. Expect highs to soar into the middle 80s under partly sunny skies! For Sunday night, look for the clouds to slowly increase as a storm system to our west begins to flirt with the Ohio Valley.

Fantastic Friday!

After a dreary couple of days earlier this week, Mother Nature is going to give is a break! Look for sunny skies and comfortable temps (middle 70s) for Friday!

Scattered Strong to Severe T-Storms Possible

Posted by Trevor Cole in Daily Weather Updates on 02-06-2009

After a fairly decent Monday, today looks to be a bit different. The first big change you will notice is the temperature…which is expected to top out around 90 degrees this afternoon! The humidity levels will also be quite high, with dewpoints hovering in the middle to upper 60s (uncomfortable levels). A frontal boundary to our north, as well as remnant outflow boundaries from yesterday’s severe storms to our north, will aid in the development of scattered showers/thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Some of the storms may be strong to severe with large hail and damaging winds being the main threats. If anything, any storm will produce locally heavy rain amounts given the high moisture content in the atmosphere.
