Accumulating Snow

I just got done reviewing the latest model data (00z GFS and NAM for you weather buffs out there). The results…are rather interesting. The NAM is spitting out a little over 0.30″ of liquid through Tuesday night, which when equated using the proper liquid to snow ratios (20:1), would result in around 7″ of snow! The GFS is a bit lighter on the amounts, showing a bit less than 0.30″ of liquid, or about 4-5 inches of snow…which is still a lot more than previous runs! Taking the models at face value would result in a forecast of 4-6″ of snow…or…a decent winter storm! However, I am still taking the conservative route with this and calling for 2-4″ of snow, but if the 06z GFS/NAM (next set of model runs) continue this trend, I will need to bump up my totals. The snow will start around 8am or shortly thereafter, and continue through Tuesday evening. Due to the cold temps, the snow will easily stick, so take it slow out there and expect travel issues…

Brief Cold Snap

After a mild Sunday, colder temps are in store for Mon-Thu, before a major warm-up arrives! Until then, expect highs in the 20s and 30s, with snow showers and flurries a possibility (no major accumulations) for Mon-Wed. Bundle up! :-)
